Well, interesting...and silly, but I think that's up to the Canadiens. And I don't think they'll join.

Imperialism died out centuries ago. We do not go around anexing contries. Canadians are very proud of their country and with good reason. We may hold close economic and diplomatic relations, but that doesn't mean that both countries should become one.
But if that were to happen ever, the ones that would benefit the most would be the Americans. In Canada everybody has the right to receive medical attention. Medical care is provided by the Estate. Here in the U.S. if you don't have a good health insurance and you get sick, the medical bills will ruin you for ever.

What kind of assanign question is that. You can't be Canadian, please tell me you are not Canadian. What in God's name do you think Canada would benifit from by joining the States? They are, sorry to say, not the worlds SUPER POWER they are one of. THye have no healthcare, no natural resources...and if they do, why do they keep raping us for ours. We have more oil, naturla gas fresh water and lumber than any other country on earth. Think about that. We are the ones that hold the keys to the future of the States not the other way around. They are overpopulated and unloved. We have the largest land mass and our entire population is less than that California. The rest of the world holds us with great regard. What do we really need from the states? Not a whole hell of a lot if you ask me.

Good lord why would the US want us? I read somewhere that the population of Texas and California both are almost 50% Hispanic and the governments of those states still only operate in Spanish so far as it takes to get people driver's licenses so they can go to work. How far do you think a policy that like would fly in Montreal? What about the pot culture in BC? Face it, pot is bigger than the forest industry in BC now with the impact of the pine beetle and the softwood tarriff. Were American pot policy to kick in there, there would be towns in BC that would make a Newfie outport look like Beverley Hills. Do you want me to go on?
The largest single trade relationship in the world occurs between our two nations. Canada is the number one supplier to the US of petroleum products, lumber, and a whole slough of strategic metals. We are entirely political stable, dependable, and eager to sell. What benefits would the Union have in Canada joining it that it doesn't already? THERE'S NO POINT. There's not even a real value in even sharing a currency if we keep our dollar lower than theirs. We're an export market and if our dollar is cheap, our exports are more competative. Guess what too, as hard as it is to believe we are a net exporter of both cars and trucks, computers, and communication equipment just to start. It ain't just the wheat farmers, coal miners and Calgary oilmen that like a low dollar. Thing about it.

Canadians feel pretty strongly about their sovereignty so I don't think that we'll be the 51st state anytime soon. We will continue to be your ally but that's about it. You may not know this, but we have a slightly different culture than Americans and we'd like to keep it that way (no offense meant). Besides Quebec would love an excuse like that to separate from Canada! Perhaps the USA would like to become part of Canada but still be known as the United States of America? No? No takers? Didn't think so. LOL.

No way. Nothing against the US, but Canada was ranked in a recent list (sorry, don't recall what my source is) as being #10 of 178 countries to live in, whereas the US was only ranked #23. We may not have as much power, but we've got a few good things going on!

No Canada should still be it's own country no matter what. We are Canadian!!! I am a proud Canadian. Like any other country especially the US we've had the wonderful politicians but overall we are first grade in our standard of living. Alberta has great health care even though they've gotten behind in upgrading the system. It's the people behind who make it work.

That's like asking if we think the US should join Canada. We are two different countries. Granted we are alot a like in many ways, yet there are some fairly big differences. I for one wouldn't like our countries to join each other. I'd hate to have to start locking my doors at night. I'd hate to have our crime rate go over the top. I'd hate to be thought of as a "war country". I would hate our health care being like the US. These are only a few things I wouldn't like.

canada has much more natural resources than the US, and much fewer enemies in the world, so why would we join them? canada is less polluted and safer, and theres less racism, if terrorists capture a canadian and an american, the american is much more likely to be killed, while the canadian released, furthermore, a lot of countries have their warheads pointed at the US, so when the sirens start to go off in the states, theyll run up to canada anyway, also, the americans are soon going to beg us for oil, lumber, and water, so haha we're not joining u

First off, I want to say how intelligent most of these answers are. It's wonderful to see. Jorge f: thank you!
As for answering this question, well, I lived in the US for a year and a quarter getting my Bachelor's degree. There is a reason why I came back to Canada. I would never actually want to live in the US - vacation there, maybe, but never live there.

How many did you smoke? Of course not!!! Every country in the world hates the US... especially Canadians! Americans are the most idiotic people on the face of the earth. They make stupid comments without even thinking. The last thing on Canadians' minds is being connected with Americans!
