i currently have a samsung x427 and i have a dial up service currently of net zero and can i use the cell phone as a modem for free meaning using the phone as a moden to connect to the internet on my laptop??

Cell phones can be used with modems, see your cell phone vendor. It may use minutes, thoughh, so be careful.

The service you're referring to is known as CSD, or Circuit Switched Data. It travels at 9.6kb/sec, which is slower than standard dialup. You can still use this service. Call Cingular and have them enable CSD on your account. It will use applicable minutes, and it is slow. I don't recommend it.
