Is this the child he owes the back child support for? If so, he's probably going to try to show that he has given her money instead of giving you the child support. I don't think he'll get away with that, however, since that money would have been considered gifts.

If this is not the child, he might be trying to get her to testify that you didn't need the support to raise her younger siblings.

If he didn't pay the child support, it doesn't matter that she's now an adult. He still owes you for the support that he didn't pay earlier. Since he didn't pay, you had to pay all the expenses of raising the child.

One more thing: When you win your case for back child support, the money is your's to do with as you wish. It is reimbursement for the funds that you spent raising the child. You are under no obligation to give the money to the child since it is a reimbursement to you.

He sounds pretty worthless if he didn't support his children after your divorce. Good luck!

He is trying to prove that you are not allowed to have that back child support because the child in question is over the age of 18. Basically he is trying to get out of paying child support that he has owed you for years.

Could be he wants to use her as an expert and have her discredit your parenting skills in front of the court. If you don't want to risk humiliation in front of the court and drop your petition, he gets what he wants.
