My husband and I are going to try to have children in 3 or 4 months. I just recently went off the patch because the doctor said it is better to be off birth control a few months before trying to have children. Do you have any suggestions other then condoms? My husband hates wearing condoms to the point were he can't feel anything.

Thanks!

I was on the pill for 10 years. The best thing in my life was when a friend of mine recommended recommended the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility-The Definitive Guide to Natural Birth Control, Pregnancy Achievement, and Reproductive Health" by Toni Weschler. You can get it a Borders or Amazon.com. This is must reading for all women, especially if you want to achieve pregnancy. Incredibly insightful and makes so much sense. The more educated you are about reproductive health, the better choices you can make. Regardless of what method you use, this book is just an awesome resource. There is a HUGE resource in the back of the book. My husband and I do FAM (Fertility Awarness Method or NFP- same thing) and it is incredibly easy. I'm pretty sure various churches even hold classes if you find the book confusing or hard to understand. We've managed to postpone pregnancy for the past two years. My brother and his wife postponed for five years. Friends that I have recommended this to also have had great results. For me, this has helped our communication. I'm no longer dependent on a pill, the responsiblity of birth control is no longer just on me or just on him... we just abstain when I'm fertile, which is pretty easy to figure out. And I'm saving money by not having to buy pills, condoms, sponges, and diaphrams. This is what has worked for me. I know it's not for everyone out there. Anyways, if you are looking to get pregnant in the next few months, get that book. Hope this helps.

My husband had the same problem. Have you tried the very thin ones that allow for the most feeling?

The sponge is back on the market too, its perfectly safe and an excellent alternative, although it can be more expensive than condoms.

Also, if you buy some ovulation strips and test yourself for a cycle you can find out when you're ovulating and just avoid that time. It worked great for two years for me and my husband. We wanted kids just not right off, so we just avoided the times when we knew I was ovulating. Although we did get pregnant on a freak ovulation during my period.. lol, but for two years it worked great.

oh, poor husband. Tell him to take some responsibility for Birth Control for once!!!

Just do it without anything. If you are going to start trying in 3-4 months anyway, what's the harm if you get pregnant a few months early?

Pull out method. Control is the key factor to the success of this procedure. Good luck.
