My mum has just went on holiday. she was allowed her cigs but no lighter. you can get your clear bags at the check out. you are also not allowed your mobile phone that has to go in your suit case. mum was saying that some people had managed to get lighters on ans giving people a light

The clear plastic bags are provided at the check in counter at the airport. The airlines are having them provided by the airports.
Since you can't smoke on a plane there is no point taking cigarettes in the clear plastic bag. They won't like that because you need a lighter to light a cig. Put them in your tagged luggage.
NO liquids! That includes make up like lip stick or anything that can be concealed in a container.
I've noticed some incorrect information by other user's. To make it clear NO HAND LUGGAGE is permitted at all on any flights going to or leaving the UK. No electronics including mobiles and laptops or portable game systems. It's the bares essentials, such as passports, money and car keys ... all in the plastic bag.

They supply the book at the airport - your own plastic bag is not allowed.
Cigs are not allowed. Water is not allowed. At the moment wrist watches are not allowed. News papers are not allowed.
You are allowed the following:
-persciption drugs
-passport
-wallet
-baby food (only if you have a baby with you)
-the clothes you are wearing
-the clear bag they give you
-eye glasses (no case allowed)
-contact lenses (not lens solution)
The following MAY be allowed (no guarantees)
-personal jewelrelry (wedding ring)
-certain prosthetics (glass eye, false teeth)
You are not allowed anything else.
I have a flight to Australia and can't take a book - I will die of insanity before I get halfway! Good luck to you and I hope you have a better flight than I will!

Since u cant smoke on planes why do you want to carry cigs in any bag? And if you know that u have to put things in a clear bag why do u want to carry tings in the first place? Food and drink are free and u cant take bottles (plastic or other) on the plane. One red lipstick and a plastic comb will fit in your bra sort of.It is not clear plastic bags packed with all sorts of naff stuff they are looking 4 but no bags at all. What you should be looking at is bag avoidance measures like described above to get u started.

If you need a big see-through tote bag or backpack, look in a discount department store or in the season aisle at a large drugstore. They're often sold as beach bags. If you're just looking for small, transparent bags use ziplock bags. They come in lots of sizes and they're cheap. You can put them inside your regular purse.

I dont think you can smoke on any flights now so carrying your ciggies is not a big deal, as for a see through bag try a chemist.
