Why do you think people want to be famous?

Why do you think some people want to be famous? Do you want to be famous? If so why?

Just so they can feel they've accomplished something.

I'm not sure if I want to be famous but I want to be remembered as having done something important. Also, if I were famous, I definitely would not want to be the type of famous that celebrities are, you know, appearing on tabloids and having rumors spread about them. I would much rather be famous and get remembered for something, without my picture being plastered everywhere.

Famous does not have to be 'celebrity fame'. I mean, everybody knows who Bill Gates, Donald Trump, or Einstein is--but they aren't/weren't on covers of magazines constantly.

Just my opinion.

First, no, I don't want to be famous. Rich, perhaps. But fame is a pain. You can't go anywhere without people bothering you, gossip mongers picking you apart, paparazzi stalking you on the streets... It's like living in a fish bowl. Sure, it would be fun for a few months, but imagine living the rest of your life that way.

So, why do people want to be famous? It varies from person to person, of course. Some people seek power, and they see fame as power. Others feel unloved and misinterpret fame as love from the public.

But overall, I think it's more natural than that.

Back when Man first started, we didn't live in big cities, or even small towns. We lived in small family groups or clans, where everyone knew everyone else. Man lived that way for at least hundreds of thousands of years. It's our natural condition to know those around us, and vice versa. So when you put a person in a city with a million strangers, and he becomes just an anonymous face in the crowd, where everyone he sees is a stranger who doesn't know him or care about him - that is an unnatural state for Man. We crave attention, we crave that natural setting where "everybody knows you name" that would come natural in a smaller group.

Being anonymous makes many people want to do something to make the people around them know their name. And that's basically what fame is - people knowing who you are (for better or worse). It's why people want to be stars, but it's also why some crazies shoot presidents or rock stars - because they think it will make them a household name.

They just don't stop to consider the negative consequences of fame. Once you're famous, you can't choose not to be famous. You're stuck with it for the rest of your life.

I think its because they had it either rough growing up and or they didn't get all the attention that they didn't get when they were younger. Like my sis, she is an aspiring actress, she constantly needs to be the center of attention, She always has been and always will be. I used to want to be famous but grew out of that quick. I am not one to want attention, I don't need it and don't want it.

I think it's because they want to be noticed and rich. When you're famous, you don't have to live in the real world.

i think people want to be famous to be admired by a lot of people and have themeselves on magazine covers and tv. i want to be famous so that i can be admired for my career and hard work if i become a singer/dancer/actor/model.
