I know crayola advertises/notes that their crayons are "non-toxic" but I think they are still "hazardous".

There is a difference between HAZARDOUS and TOXIC, some people may not know this....I really did not know this until I worked in an INDUSTRY which disposed of different types of waste streams. Hazardous is not as bad as TOXIC, but hazardous stuff can still pose a threat, it's the kind of stuff that "creeps-up" on you...maybe cancer related. TRy enclosing CRAYOLA crayons in a sealed container for a little while and then open it and TAKE A WHIFF, but be careful, it may be dangerous.... obviously we all have different genetics....some people may get sick others may not. Some people lose their hair and they don't seem to care... I personally care. hope in a better world, with better products

Yes there is!
They're soy crayons, I believe the company is called Prang, I can't quite remember. I'll see if I can get more info for you.

Edit: OK, they're called Prang Soy Bean Crayons and are available at www.prang.com

What most people don't realize is that YES crayola is TOXIC.
They are toxic because they are made with paraffin, witch is very toxic. Unfortunately in the USA nothing is being done about the use of paraffin. Paraffin is the sludge that they can't use when gasoline is made, it's healthier to breath in car fumes than it is to light a paraffin candle. Unfortunately most people are either ignorant of this fact, or are just to lazy to care.

Think about this: Paraffin is used to make "normal" candles, to coat fruit, and people even go get a paraffin wax job on their hands for short term rejuvenation.
(long term effect of a paraffin hand wax have been severe as losing the hands, but most cases just end up having really wrinkled and old hands.)

Yes,
Crayola's for one,
in addition there is a law
that all crayons sold in the USA
be non-toxic and they must clearly
state this in the packaging.

Hope this helps.

non-toxic crayons (i think most are) are not hazardous, unless you choke on them.
