Yes. put some newspaper over the wax. Use a low temperature setting on the iron and iron over the newspaper. The paper will absorb the melting wax. You will need to constantly change the newspaper so that you don't spread the wax and to be able to absorb more efficiently.

One person suggested using newspaper, I think it would be better to use a few layers of absorbent paper towel.
Another method would be to rub the wax with ice cubes to harden it and then scrape it off, (carefully), with a putty knife.

It would be better to ice it and pop it off gently with a butter knife when the wax gets brittle.
