*Not* this month! In August 2003 it was closest to Earth, and now there's a stupid email going around without the year on it. Right now it's on the other side of the Sun as viewed from Earth, so you can't see it at all.

Here's some viewing information for Mars for this year. Note that it won't really be easily seen until the begining of 2007.
