no one knows but baby.
I am 100% effaced and 1cm dilated and have been for 2 weeks now. Doctor said you can stay at the same dilation for weeks.
How far along are you?

You will have your baby anytime between 3 hours and 3 weeks from now. It is possible to go more than a few days even in your present condition, so I would definitely take it easy. Don't take any baths or go into swimming pools. That could introduce infection now that your plug is gone. Showers only. Don't travel or go on long car rides. Drink plenty of water and keep your feet elevated. Have your bag and the baby's bag packed and in the trunk of the car. Have family numbers programmed into your cell phone and have a contact person ready to pass on information to friends and family. Watch for signs of early labor, including regular contractions, lower backache, fluid leaking, etc. Now it is really important to monitor fetal movement. If you notice any slow-down in activity you should be seen asap. If you call your doctor they will just tell you to go to Labor and Delivery at this point, so you can skip that if you suspect that you are in labor. They will send you home if you're not actually in labor, unless they find a reason not to and want to induce labor.

At this point it should be up to your doc how long he will let you go now that you have lost your plug. My good friend had her baby this morning after being induce because she lost her plug thursday. Most docs won't let it go very long, so get ready. Oh and she was also dilated to 3 and has been for a week now. But no contractions really. Good luck and hope you have a good delivery. ( I am due in 4 weeks and going to see her today with her baby has made me even less patient)

I hope you're on your way to the Hospital....however, it's hard to say. I lost my mucus plug one month prior to the birth of my baby.
BUT IT CAME OUT TWO DAYS BEFORE HE WAS DUE.
Be careful because you're subtled to infection the plug prevents harmful bacteria from entering the cervix.
Insist that the Doctor induce you. IF YOUR BABY IS DUE AND IS HEALTHY.
My Doctor performed an Amnio and the test results told me that my baby was 10 and one half months old in utereo. I was in the hospital two weeks prior to his ACTUAL birth and like I said, I had to be induced with the Pitocin Drip, intraveneous..

It depends on whether or not this is your first child. On my second baby, I was only at 7 cm when I delivered. that was 10 hours of labor. My first was 10 cm and 6 hours of labor. My OB-Gyn told me that with each additional child your cervix is less flexible and you will never truley meet the 10 cm mark.
Good Luck!

my ex took 6 days before labor.....before the water broke...three things to do to enduce contractions naturally
1... have sex....orgasam will start contractions since it is a contraction itself
2. foot massage...nerev endings in the vagina are coinnected to nerve endings in the bridge of the foot and the achiellies tendon
3. go walking
seriously...ask a mid-wife

The baby will come when the baby wants to come. It seems the more impatient and anxious you become, the longer it takes
