If it's a chigger, use nail polish. Clear looks better but use whatever you've got. It will smother the bug and stop itching. A little ice on it or a mosquito bite, will help ease the itching. But don't leave it on long. A paste of baking soda & water will also help.
Still an over-the-counter like hydro-cortisone would be more effective.
As far as poison, don't mess with this. Scratching can cause it to enter the bloodstream. Trust me on this one. There's a GREAT medicine called Ivydry that is a godsend. If it doesn't clear up, see a Dr.

Chapstick used to make a lip balm which contained camphor which if rubbed on a mosquito bite would kill the itch within about 30 sec. Never tried it on poison ivy or oak but might work.

Calamine lotion is the best.
Take 25 to 50 mg. of Benadryl, of course for the itch. If 50mg doesn't help her, call the ER and talk to the nurse on call.
IF it's a chigger, you'll need to kill the actual bug. They burrow into your skin, and if you scratch them they only dig deeper to get away from your scratching.
If that's what you think it is (a chigger), have her take a cool bath in about a tablespoon of Pinesol mixed in the bathwater, and then put a clear coat (or whatever color you have) of nail polish on each bite. The nail polish should be a last resort though, because of the chemicals in it. It will kill them though, because they need oxygen.

For poison ivy go to www.oral-ivy.com
they make a bottle of liquid that you take and it works great for getting rid of the itch if you have it and you can use it as a preventative for getting into it.
My tree company guys use this stuff and have for about 9 years.
It helps and it is not that expensive.

... I always found that running very hot tap water over the effected area,...as hot as I could possibly stand it,... almost to the point of burning,... and for a good 5 or 10 minutes,... really killed the itch and seemed to neutralise the oils from the poison ivey that caused the itch. ....... It may be neccessary to do this again a day or so later,.. but I always found that it really worked extremely well for me.

Add camphor in coconut oil and apply on affected area to get relief from itching. If you have a Margosa (Neem) tree in your locality, make a paste of neem leaves and apply on affected part because the neem is germicidal and will take care of itching.

Here is one mix that might work for you.
1 - tablespoon aloe vera
4 - vitamin E capsules
1/2 - teaspoon powdered oatmeal
1/2 - teaspoon baking soda
4 - drops of tea tree oil
mix aloe, vit E gel in capsules and tae tree oil. (set aside) Put uncooked oatmeal and baking soda in a fine grinder. Make a powdered mix and add to other ingredients. If no grinder, make the mix as fine as you can. Apply to area and let dry. Wipe off and leave area to air for at least an hour. Store remaining in refrigerator. (sealed container) For faster healing and more relief in between, boil 1 cup of water and add 1/2 teaspoon of tea tree oil. Cool, store in caped bottle and shake well before using. Apply with cotton ball liberally. If you have any questions please contact me i would love to hear how you are doing.

Caladryl seems to work best as an over-the-counter topical. But if the rash continues to spread, see your doctor and ask to get a shot for it. He'll give you antibiotics to take for a week and some cream to apply to the affected area.
