limewire.com the website is legal...downloading music is not for any reason unless you have paid for it. The same goes for any software you may download through it. It is called piracy. Don't be fooled into thinking that you cannot get caught because someone told you that the design of Limewire does not allow tracking. When you first download and install Limewire you must electronically agree not to download any copyrighted material. Be warned about the virus' that are rampant on Limewire's users machines. I have repaired several computers that were brought down by use of Limewire.

Having Limewire is legal. Downloading files of music is illegal. You will face serious financial and legal problems when they come after you.
All of these outfits like limewire have been sued and now must provide all the info they get from you when you download their program. This is much more than just your IP address, as most people believe. When this info is given to the music and movie industry investigators, they then watch you downloads and then they come after you. The average range of settlement demands is $18,000 - $20,000.
Limewire is currently being sued and will soon have to provide the information it got from your computer when you downloaded their program.

It is technically illegal to share copyright protected music but all you have to do after downloading the song is take it out of your shared music folder so that others can't download it from you. But if everybody does this it defeats the whole purpose of Peer 2 Peer file sharing. So it's your call. Download the file for personal use and you are not breaking any laws.

The software is perfectly legal, but downloading copyrighted things from there is not. It's fine to download something that is in the public domain, though.

No sweetheart, Limewire is not legal.. but everyong uses it...If for some season you do, make sure you scan every thing you down load because it loaded with virus.. Your friend from Tennessee...ROB

it's legal if you're using it for personal use and not selling it.
selling it is illegal..it's like piracy if you sell it and you can
get locked up.
