Your Sun signs are opposite by sign and I would need to determine if they were by degree as well using both sets of birth data.

Sun opposition Sun in synastry:
Opposites attract! Although the two of you have many basic differences in your personalities, you are, nevertheless, attracted to each other and intrigued by each other. This is not a lukewarm relationship! It can easily lean towards a love-hate relationship: you love and respect each other when you are able to complement each other, and you hate each other when you fail to understand and appreciate your differences. When disagreements arise, the argument is between your egos. Beware of appearing haughty, judgmental, or self-righteous with each other when really the argument is about differences in basic temperaments. When "ego wars" occur between the two of you, remember that your partner is never going to be what they weren't born to be. Appreciate your basic differences, as you have much potential to complement each other. It is up to the two of you to develop mutual appreciation for your differences rather than antagonize each other.
You must look to the whole chart to see what type of people you are attracted to not just your own sun sign and the other person's sun sign.
What aspects do your Sun, Moon and Ascendent make?
The 1st house is you, your personality and appearance..
The 5th house rules love affairs.
The 7th house rules partnerships.
The 8th house rules sexuality.
What planets are in the above houses and what aspects do they make? What signs are those planets in? What sign is on the cusp of those houses? What elements (fire, earth, air & water) and qualities (cardinal, fixed & mutuable) are involved?
For a female's chart you can look to the Sun and Mars and their aspects for what types of males they are attracted to.
For a male's chart you and look to the Moon and Venus and their aspects for what types of females they are attracted to.

Any sign can be with any other sign. It all depends on your whole chart, based on your DATE, PLACE, EXACT TIME of birth, not just your Sun signs.
Your whole chart then is then compared to the other person's whole chart using a technique called Synastry.
The aspects between each other's planets and points must be looked at and interpreted. The planets in each others houses must be looked at and interpreted, both ways. Affinities must be looked for. It's not simple to a layperson, but it is to people who are educated in Astrology terminology.
Sun sign horoscopes are absolutely inaccurate to determine compatibility between two people.

When Leo and Aquarius join together in a love match, the merging of Aquarian foresight and Leo creativity causes people to take notice. This partnership is energetic and unstoppable, and although occasional competitions may occur, there is never a dull moment for these two. Their Signs are congenial and have a good relationship. Both tend to be idealistic and highly motivated. Both are attracted to all things novel, and are thrill-seekers; they may even occasionally turn life into a giant game of Truth or Dare. Many Leo-Aquarius relationships thrive on unending mutual admiration. Leo admires the individualism, vision and creative characteristics of Aquarius. In turn, Aquarius admires the Lion's zeal, charm and dignity--Aquarians always have new ideas, but they don't always have the drive to make those ideas real as Leo does. Both Signs pride themselves on their independence, but conflicts can arise if Leo seems too demanding or Aquarius seems too aloof. Both partners should respect differences of perspective in the other. Leo can be too dramatic for Aquarius' taste, but Aquarius in turn could be too unsteady for their Leo counterpart. If they communicate to one another the value of the relationship, everything will be okay. Leo is ruled by The Sun and Aquarius is ruled by the Planets Saturn and Uranus. These three Planets form a sort of cycle indicative of the Leo-Aquarius relationship and their ability to come together to create new institutions. Uranus is the Planet of new ideas and creativity; it's from this Planet that Aquarius gets its great vision. Then The Sun gives life and an identity to their collective ideas. Finally Saturn keeps the process going to completion, following up after Uranus's inspiration has been exhausted and The Sun's energy moves on to new things.

I'm a Leo and my husband of almost 22 yrs is an Aquarius, so either we are compatible or just too lazy to get divorced. We have our quarrels but all and all we get along fine.
P.S. We got married in our Senior year of high school at 18 and 17 yrs of age. He's younger by 6 months.

Tons of passion. Leo creates great plans that will lead to riches, but can't follow through. Aquarians have the strength to take the plans to the next step, so in that sense they are great together.
Leo can be bossy and Aquarians can be controlling. The fights are long and noisy, but when the Aquarian is finished fighting her/she will want to just move on where Leo wants to keep going. Lots of frustration, but HUGE loyalty and deep love.

Aquarius is the complete opposite of Leo. And like opposites they tend to clash. Not all matches clash though. It totally depends which personality is the strongest, (good or bad). You can both be good, both be bad, one is either and one is the other. I think it also depends on if you are truely attracted to this person. I used to base my relationships strictly on signs but sometimes the stars are wrong.
