you turn the whole distributor,,with the vacuum advance disconnected,,and use a timing light,,so you can get it back on the mark it goes on..you need to let the engine warm up good before you do it so it will be accurate,,i own a repair shop,,and this is a easy job,,just take your time,,and go by the tune up sticker under the hood,,it will tell you what the timing degrees is,,good luck with it.

one piece of advice my friend. anything to do with timing or your distributor take to a mechanic. when that screws up it can be expensive. check the price of a distributor, you may faint

You cannot advance the timing without a programmer like hondadata.
