OK, this is easy, most old people are retired from their careers that they worked very hard at for many years. Many of them are still able to work. Many of them enjoy working. Many of them have to work to make ends meet. They are useful. The door greeter job is not very hard and is usually part time. So don't you think it's nice to see these great older people out in the world working but not having to work too hard. Got it!

i'm not old and i was a walmart door greeter for 2 days until they had time to train me as a cashier, thats not as easy a job as it looks, people yell at you if you don't know how to work the electronic carts, even if they really shouldn't ride them because those things do have weight limits, you wouldn't believe how many fat people cussed out this nice old lady I knew because all the electronic carts were being used and because whatever they came to return was broken, like it was her fault

Because most Wal-Mart greeters were born a long time ago.

It's a part-time minimum wage job. Who else would take it?

Yes, Wal-Mart really does make a point of hiring senior citizens who would like to get out and work a little but don't expect a real full-time job. It's supposed to give the store a friendlier face; mostly they give you bad directions, though.

It doesn't pay much and it is part time. Most elderly people get social security, though nearly not enough, so this is a way for them to make some extra money and do something that is fun and not too hard for them. I love talking to them. Some of them are so nice. It makes their day when people stop and talk and are nice to them as well. Some day you may be one of them yourself.

They need a job, but they cant do much hard labor. I've seen greeters that were not old people.

That is a nice job for them to have. Some people still have to work. It's nice of Walmart to offer that position. I really couldn't see an elderly person stocking aisles or doing anything really physical.

Because they are all mentally crazy *believe me, I was supervisor... I know*. They are people who have already retired and got bored sitting at home by themselves, so they got a job where they really had to do nothing at all... plus, did I mention that they are mentally crazy??? Thats the thing about stores like that. They like to hire people and whoever is the craziest, gets put up by the door away from everyone else who is working. Its not just old people though... we had a 30 year old woman who was not right in the head, she was cashier, then we moved her out to the garden center, then they just said screw it... put her at the door. They can't bother people who are working if they are at the front door.

doesn't require hard physical labor and they don't mind standing in one area talking to people..Yonger people have shorter attention spans...Wal-Mart found older people to be better greeters...
