is there a way to prevent a new cotton shirt from shrinking?

wash in cold water and dry without heat. you can also stretch it some say a pair pf jeans by putting them on wet and wearing em dry.

Cotton always shrink in Length only.. only 2% of messurement of fabric.. If its shirt. it will only shrink half inch.. No mater how u handel.. dont worry every designer know about it.. so they always make little extra length.. or deep in water before they sew..
just put some salt in water and deep shirt for half hour and wash it.. it will be fine

Try washing it in cold water and then line drying it. This should help.

Don't wash it... but, then again, it's cotton, so once you wear it again it'll stretch back out!

Let it hang dry, do not put it in the dryer.

air dry, but if you dry it it will stretch back to its normal size
