I would love to try exotic and unusual foods but it seems for now I am stuck with the basics which is no problem at all because I do love the basics and eating in general.

I always try to find new ways to add an exotic touch to my basic recipes and also try new exotic things.

You would be surprised but next time you make spaghetti bolognese add a teaspoon of cinnamon to the sauce and marvel at how well it works. Not kidding.

I do try exotic foods from time to time. My biggest adventure was trying sushi. It was the first day the place was serving it and we felt it would be safe to try. We found we loved it. My favorite is takosu (spelling?) which is squid, put a little japanese soy sauce and some white vinegar on it and mix it with a little wasabe and shaved radishes? Delicious!

I try to be open, but end up eating the basics-- I can't handle spicy at all (can barely eat pepperoni pizza...), so the exotics always end up making my tongue fall off.

I was married to a Japanese man, and his mother got a real kick out of feeding me things, that normal people don't eat. I ate octopus, kelp, sushi, and other things that really did not suit my taste buds. Now, I want to know exactly what something is, before I eat it, and if it doesn't sound like something I want to eat, I don't. I'll take pork chops and mashed potatos over sushi any day!
