although rickey hasnt officially announced he is retired, he last played in the major leagues in 2003 and and unless he does play again(majors), he therefore becomes eliglbe for hall of fame consideration in 2008.

as for the minor league san diego team, he did play with them in 2005, but has NOT played with them in 2006. he is emplyed as a special instructor with the new york mets, mostly working on an interim basis with minor leaguers. he did spend time with the big club in spring training and has been in new york on a few ocassions during the season.

I think Rickey will still be playing minor league baseball when he's 60. He is one of the best players in the past 30 years. I remember him playing when I was a kid and I'm 44.
I am pretty sure he is playing in the minors. Don't think he would consider that retirement.

Good question. I don't think so...isn't he playing in a League on the East Coast? Therefore, if he's still playing in any League, he hasn't retired.

He's playing for the San Diego Surf Dawgs of the Golden Baseball League, a single A major league affiliate. If you are still playing, you aren't retired, even if you aren't playing in the MLB. He is getting old though and should think about it.
