Yeah, that is pretty high. Depending on your age - your blood pressure should be something like 130/75 or something like that. Anything over 80 is kinda high and over 90 is for sure high. You need to see a doctor and get on some medication to lower your pressure. Having high blood pressure could be hereditary, due to your weight, or a ton of other factors. But letting it go untreated is very bad for you - it makes your heart work hard, stresses blood vessels, and can also make your vision become poor.

If this has only happened once, and is a isolated incident, then I wouldn't worry. It could be stress related. If your blood pressure has been consistently high for 3 or more checks then yes it is a issue (any pressure systolic over 160 three or more times is considered high blood pressure). As others have said, it may be as simple as a diet change. Be careful of how much water you are taking in, if you are not peeing it out. Check with your doctor as they will follow your pressure and properly treat it. Do not rely on the Internet only.

3 years ago, I was diagnosed - hypertension with a reading of 160/100. I used to feel dizzy a lot, my legs had awful cramps, and levels were very low in my potassium, causing my fingers and toes to always cramp together. One day I started to feel really faint while I was driving with my daughter in the back seat and I passed out, hitting 3 cars and ending up in a ditch. That moment,I knew I had to do something because my meds weren't working. I heard about this diet from a friend and thought I'd give it a shot. The results have been remarkable. In just 21 days, I honestly can't remember feeling this good, my blood pressure went from 175/110 to 125/70.

I think high bp could be a symptom of pre-eclampsia and if your ob/gyn is that concerned, then they should test your blood and get a 24-hour urine collection just to be on the safe side. You're at 38 weeks though and are in the home stretch so going into labor now would be okay. I would say drink LOTS of water this weekend, rest on your left side as much as you can, limit your intake of salt, then have them retest on Monday. I don't think the ob should force you to go with a c-section (unless that's something you've already agreed upon). I had a brief PIH scare at 24 weeks but luckily they didn't find any protein in my urine although my bp continues to be wacky. Good luck though and all the best!

Anything over 160/90 needs to be checked by a Doctor if you haven't already done so. You;re a little high on both the systolic and the diastolic and it can be caused be a number of things.....what you ate, nervousness , alcohol consumption, etc. etc.
Your Doctor can take several readings at different intervals and make a good diagnosis.

Worry never helps anything.
Hypertension causes it.
Your pressure is border line in some cases for high. Watch your salt intake, have gentle exercise if you are over weight, smoke less or quit all together if you can, and eat an orange or banana or some other fruit high in potassium.
If you don’t want to take meds, there are herbs you can use. Look them up on google.

Yes, that is high. You should adjust your diet, more fruits and high fiber foods, less meats and no fats, and no alcohol, for a while, also you need to exercise, work out real hard for a couple of hours at least twice a week, or you are going to die a lot sooner than you planned, or have a heart attack, or a stroke, or get some nasty disease like diabetes, got that?

While probably not critical it is too high and can cause damage if left untreated . The cause? only a Doctor can diagnose that but there are basically two types of high blood pressure: primary and secondary. Yours is most likely primary and hereditary. Secondary is usually kidney disease related, get checked.
