well i am scottish and like the english people! Yes, there is a long running rivalry between our two countries - hampden clinched it i think in the 1980s (lol), but i have no ill will towards the english. they are a proud nation that im glad to say are embracing their englishness - its great to see more st george flags than union flags, as we embrace our st andrews flag more than the union flag. I have visited england many times and found everyone ive met to be just as friendly as my fellow scots. My favourite region is the lake district, but i found london very fast paced and everyone seemed stressed out, and unwilling to stop when i asked directions to Kings Cross (i thought i had got lost but was only a few streets away) But the man who did stop was very helpful. Ive never had any problems, and most folk were quite happy to ask about scotland and tell me about their city.

I am Scottish and I do know some English people who are friendly and have a sense of humour and so I cannot say that I hate the English, just certain characteristics get annoying; for example English people are generally slightly more (and I don't mean this offensively) arrogant and pushy and as with all nationalities, there are some ignorant b*stards as well (unfortunately I know several of those as well.) Another slight annoyance (which is not actually the fault of England) is when foreign people think of Britain as England (i.e. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are part of England, which they are NOT).
Overall, English are much like any other people - there are good people and not so good people, although they do (generally) have some dislikable characteristics.

From a Welsh point of view I think it's all of England!
The majority of us don't take it seriously though - it's just friendly rivalry. I think it stems from centuries ago (1282 actually) when the English army killed Llywelyn, the last leader of Wales and took over the ruling of the country. This had long running effects, probably most significant being the marginalisation of the Welsh language, which by now has come back to being the language of the majority.
It was this I think that started it all, understandably! Things have never been the same since and we can't resist a good old dig at the English, especially during the rugby!

No they don't don't like all the English, but mainly because of the London-centric nature of England. Which is **** for those of us who live in the North West of England, and are hated by the Scottish and the Welsh (although I've never met a hateful Irishman) and are ignored just as much as Scotland and Wales by the people running the country.

Do you think us English are bothered by what a bunch of racist idiots like you think?
You are the ones who are full of yourselves. Most English people can say that don't have any issues with the Scots, Welsh and Irish.
I'm married to a Scotsman and he's admitted that he's ashamed by the attitude of his fellow countrymen and their attitude.
Now thats coming from a proud Scot, doesn't that tell you something?
Get a life, we're all British when it comes down to it!!!

Lived all over the uk in my job,for long periods of time. The nicest people i met where from Leeds and Yorkshire.
I am originally from Edinburgh, and my answere is from South London down although i'd say i dont really like English people that much,They just know no fun!Come across proper and there not!
But the Southerners are a bunch of ****** and thats fine by me.
My kids are going to need something to throw stones at.
Lets be honest there is nothing wrong with English people they just seem alittle die hard when they want something -same every where.
