Renault or Mazda? and Why? (especially in USA)

Mazda because they are known for their decent reliability. Renault is known for crap.

I assume you are not in the US;I am in the US. In the US Renaults were here for years in the '70s and 80's and were know to be overpriced, tiny, unreliable cars. Mazdas are known as reliable fun to drive cars.
I am an MBA and follow the car industry very closely. I don't think that the Renaults would sell well in the US because of the bad reputation and the already competitive market for small cars. Plus, as compared to Europe, the population of the US is more spread out making it more expensive for Renault to set up dealerships, service centers, advertise, etc. than it would be in europe. There are only a handful of european cars that I think would sell well in the US, mainly the Peugeot 606, land rover defender.
Personally, I have two dogs, a wife and a baby and would never buy another compact car (ie mazda 3, civic) just because we wouldn't all fit in a compact car.

Renault has a reliability problem. Maxda has both. The 6 has not shown to be nearly as reliabile as the 3. the CX7 is new, but based on the 6 so, probably, not as reliabile as the 3. The only car, in it's class, to beat the reliability of the 3 is the Honda Civic(it just edged the 3 out). Consumers Report just(April issue) evaluated hatchbacks. The Mazda 3, Audi 3, Saab, Dodge Charger and the Mazda beat all others. The VW has a REALLLLy bad reliability rating. Consumer Reports reliability ratings are based on CR reader surveys(this year 750,000) actual problems, repairs, results, etc.

Mazda is well built, while the french Renault is not up to scratch. In particularly it has a number of electrical problems.

i cannot buy renault in canada. mazda is a fairly dependable auto. VW is made in mexico to that person....... junk!
