I think the ratings for some of the movies these days are too permissive for the age groups. The pg 13 should be R and so on. I think Will Ferrel is great in some of the things that I have seen him in. The crude stuff can be left at the door, however.
I have seen so many films, that would be wonderful and witty, if the crude essence of the film were not there.. kind of sad. I don't wish to keep those who want to see these kinds of films from seeing them, but how about the rest of us who want humor without all the other garbage..

I have only seen Dodgeball and yeah it's funny but I'm not obsessed with it. I really want to see Talladega Nights although I heard that it was really crude.

I didn't like Dodgeball for alot of reasons but the crude humor was one. I find it such a turn off especially in Anchorman. The commercials for Talledega nights looked so good I was going to see it but now that you compare it to Dodgeball I'm not going to see it. I think crude humor makes it ok for people to act in disgusting manners. You look at the definition for crude: Being in a natural state, lacking tact or taste, characterized by uncultured simplicity, lacking in sophistication or subtlety, immature. Obviosly the people that like this sort of humor aren't educated enough to see that it's stupid or don't know how to show higher forms of humor so they cater to the people that are "uncultured".

I believe you probably answered your question in the second sentence. Reason some will give is because they like crude humor. I like crude humor too, at times.

Unfortunatley, its what sells tickets. I can't stand Will Ferrell myself. Hopefully he will take Adam Sandler's lead and break out of the stupid humor movies and into more serious acting roles.

I think it was HL Menken that said, "No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American people."
