I feel this is okay until the child is about 7 years old, with visitations...after this it should be joint custody and when the child enters the teens, I feel the father should take over, and the mother should have visitations. The boy must learn how to become a man, and if you are an excellent father/man, you will be the best example for him.
This civilized nuturance will also be a lesson, if the both of you can properly communicate and pull on the same lines... otherwise this will fail.

hmmm, is there a reason why she doesn't trust you perhaps? can't take chances on people we don't trust when it comes to the babies.
