Sounds like a weak signal. Radio Shack sells a 2 way amp. just for that. I bought one a couple weeks ago for $30 and it works great. This was a lot easier than fighting with the cable company. Just hook it up where the cable first enters the house inside. I don't have the info in front of me right now but if you want to email me I'll send you the Radio Shack item number for that model..

I know people who live just a few miles/kilometers from the local TV transmission towers and are at about the same elevation. They get terrible reception from these channels, whereas other stations 50 miles away come in much better.

Naturally, some stations broadcast at higher wattage, but nobody knows why some locat stations always have lousy reception. And it has been like this for over 20 years -- long before cable and satelitte services.

No - it's just that there's a zillion frequencies bouncing around there, a ton of interference, and a lot of stuff in between you and the transmission tower.

If memory serves me right, radio transmissions are line of sight in nature, and everything in between you and the signal radiating from the tower will cause degradation.

Get a better antenna; there's been a lot of innovative solutions to reception problems, a professional will know more.
