After midnight, you're on the side of the Earth that's facing forward in the direction of its orbit. So it's sorta the same reason why more bugs hit the windshield of your car than hit the back window.

It actually depends on where the meteor shower is located - I have seen some that were better right after dark.

after midnight your location has rotated to the leading side where the meteorites are, this means you see them better because they are being run into by the side of the planet you are on.

the earth is at it's "apogee" in it's rotation away from the sun...facing out into space.

hi, its better see at midnight because it is really dark and the stars are so bright at midnight. I love watching the meteor shower at midnight its so beautiful.

because you are restricted in your vision by the city lights etc, the further out into the countryside you go, the better
