Yes, you can. It costs somewhat more for the parts, though. And you cannot upgrade a laptop as readily as you would upgrade a desktop. There just isn't enough space to put many extras inside one. If you want to buy a computer for the long-term or for high performance applications and do not need to be mobile, get a good desktop computer. Good luck!

Yes, but I don't recommend it. Why? Because we're not talking about a Desktop, which you could disassemble it easy. The laptop's components are small and made specifically by the brand such as Dell or HP.

Even though you might find parts of the same laptop but it's evolutionated model, it might happen that the components might be bigger or smaller and will not fit into your laptop.

Given the cost of laptops these days and the speed at which technology changes i wouldn't waste my time
Laptops are made as a package and better left alone

They can but its much harder than for desktops...and will cost you more as well.
Guess it depends on what you want to update too but if you need to update several components it might be too much of a pain and you might as well just buy a new one :P

What do you mean by updated? Do you mean upgraded, like hardware/speed etc. or updated as in Windows XP to Vista or Linux etc.
