I am a moderate and I have witnessed many people who call President Bush "stupid" regarding economy and Iraq War. But when you look at his track record, he managed to GRADUATE from prestigious Yale University. He managed to OBTAIN MBA from Harvard University. Both of which stupid person can not do.
Shouldn't people stop calling him "stupid" and and call him "incompetent" instead?

I would agree with you if the man could speak intelligibly. The economy in the U.S. is in the toilet., Americans are dying daily in Iraq, and he has no answer. Sorry, but Stupid seems very appropriate.

He "managed" to graduate from Yale because of his father's power and money. It's the reason he got into the college in the first place. Noelle Bush, daughter of Florida governor Jeb Bush (and George's niece), "managed" to graduate from Florida State Univesity despite rarely attending classes, and receiving grades that would have failed most other students. She was in drug rehab for 3/4 of her senior year and still managed a "B" average. Everyone knows you NEVER fail the governor's kid, I know for a fact at least two professor's (non-tenured)were threatened with termination when they tried to fail her. Look it up in the Tallahassee Democrat.
Aslo, no offense to the business grad's out there, but an MBA from ANY school isn't really all that hard to get. I am not saying it is simple, but it certainly doesn't require a lot of intelligence. Bush has lost so much money in very ill-conceived business ventures, I wonder how anyone could cite his degree as proof of intelligence?

I call Bush not only incompetent, but stupid as well. He is stupid because he actually beleive's his own bullshlt. He really thought the Iraqi's would welcome the US with open arms. He really does think he is doing "God's work", and it never occours to him that maybe he is wrong. When you beleive your own BS, you are stupid.

I believe Bush is considered stupid because he expresses himself so poorly in verbal communication. For instance, his vocabulary is not as well developed as it should be, especially considering where he went to school. He is also unable to speak "off the cuff" especially in debates. In the 2004 debates, he did fine when he was given questions for which he was prepared. But when he was asked questions for which he had not been prepped, he inserted many "uhs" and lower-level language.

I also think people believe Bush is stupid because no matter the evidence to the contrary, he will not sway from his chosen path. A key example of this is the war in Iraq; no matter how poorly the war is going, he will not change course, because he regards doing so as to show a sign of weakness.

He also appears stupid following an intellectually brillant president like Bill Clinton who was a Rhodes Scholar. Despite the fact that George Bush went to Ivy League universities, for many of those educational institutions, students who have money, reputation and prestige will be accepted, no matter how poor the grades or low the SAT scores. (Bush's father was a heavyweight politician before becoming Ronald Reagan's running mate in 1980. Bush Sr.'s father, Prescott Bush, was a U.S. Senator from Conneticut.) Those ties WILL carry a great weight when Harvard looks at prospective students.

Anyone that goes to Yale and Harvard doesn't mean that they have smarts, it means that they have a father with the money to fire any prof. that thinks about failing his son. If you look at his QPA you would know what I'm talking about. And if you know anything about Ivy League Schools you would too know that they don't give out D's or F's because they don't want to have students leaving with out being able to account for not having smart students and excellent prof. You'll clearly see that George dubya Bush got alot of Cs and Ds on his Transcripts! That should tell us something! I have a lot of reason and valid info to show just how stupid he is, but I won't post it all now. Not enough space in this blog!!

Normal people think that moral judgment (together with other things) is a matter-of-course in making important decisions, especially poltical. Amoral things seem often as something absolutely stupid, though they are based on humanist value free reason, calculation and cynism in fact. Maybe people prefer to have illusion about policy, not influenced heavily by some lobby (e.g. for he/she could feel dignified)? If a person without education and without support of present elite would do absolutely the same things as some USA politicians did, he/she would be called not stupid, but a criminal immediatly.

I do not think that bad things, which are related with shortages of Bush policy, have something in common with incompetence if we consider the higher education as measure of competence. But I agree fully that "incompetent" is a proper term if we describe competence as something striving for true knowledge and if we understand that higher school/university curriculum does not include a number of essential knowledge. E.g. knowledge, which can not reach academic knowledge because of racism.

If he were just a rancher, probably no one would call him stupid. I doubt if anyone would think he was very bright, but he'd be likeable enough and why insult him.

College grades do not necessarily reflect intelligence. Especially when daddy's a billionaire.

However, as president of the U.S. he's made mistakes with such vast consequences for all Americans and for the world that stupid just seems to fit.

And maybe he actually hasn't made any mistakes. Perhaps he's just a front man, carrying out the agenda of a group that is driven by greed and the lust for power. If that's the case, then anyone who calls him stupid does so out of anger and frustration.

If your family has enough money and influence, any spoiled rich kid can graduate from the best colleges in the country.
Bush was a party animal, using drugs and drinking to excess. His father "fixed' countless drunk-driving infractions for him, set him up in business where investors lost millions, bought and paid to have him elected governor of Texas, and helped steal a Presidential election (or two).
Bush is not stupid. He IS incompetent, corrupt, cowardly, and dishonest. He has lied to the American public; tried to control the press; killed 3,000 U.,S. soldiers; tarnished America's reputation as a global peacekeeper; and put taxpayers TRILLIONS of dollars in debt which we'll be paying off for generations to come (if we ever can).
His family's close ties with China and Saudi Arabia have never been adequately explained or investigated, but there's good reason to believe that his administration might be the catalyst for China's eventual take over of the U.S. We are China's biggest debtor. All they have to do is revoke our credit line, then come over here and take everything they want: real estate, natural resources, military hardware, oil, land, weapons of mass destruction, even our women if there's enough demand in the international sex-slave trade! And our military won't be able to stop anything because there will be no money with which to fund a military. All thanks to the worst President ever to occupy the Oval Office in the history of the U.S.A.
(but, hey...he's not STUPID!). -RKO-

The press started the jokes and the other political party feeds them . . . gets old doesn't it? Bush has taken a religious stand that much of the special interest groups in Hollywood do not condone so he is constantly all over TV and the movies. Reality is the effectiveness of the President has a lot to do with how well Congress and the Senate will work with them. So can we truly call him incompetent?

Ahh..stupid is such a strong word. More like "he is'nt to bright."
I dont care where he graduated from. That doesnt mean he actually did it without any help. Money and power go a long way. But theres one thing money can't buy. And that's common sense. This is what I believe our president is lacking. Everytime I see him on tv he always acts so unsure of himself and dumb. When someone speaks to him it takes him almost minutes to respond. He always does the same thing. Starts with things like well..uh. He takes to long to choose his words. Then he puts on that grin that I hate so much and finally answers. But more than likely his response is something you've heard a million times or doesnt even anwser the question but just throws you off with a joke.

I've come to understand something about elections in the past few years. And its this "Presidential Elections is like a box of chocolates...you never know what your gonna get"

I think its because people expect more from someone elected to the most powerful nation 2 times in a row. Because of his goofs in his speeches and other bad decisions i cant help but calling him stupid... incompetent seems not enough somehow.
