I assure you that the original language of what we now call America was not English. It was about 300 native languages. And the ancestors of many modern Americans did not come legally. They were intruders who took what wasn`t theirs.I don`t care if your white or purple.I am glad that the anglo Americans are here.I am related to many of them, but learn your history and realize that if it wasn`t for illegal immigrants, you probably wouldn`t be here.

I agree. Morality however is relative. People from different cultures have different standards. I can't say I agree that that should be the case but it's inevitable if you mix cultures. Eventually you end up with a mess. Morality and standards of right and wrong can be taught but this was previously the main concern of religion. The more religion is undermined the more society becomes less cohesive and the more likely this is to be the case where atheism and different faiths contend for people's attention.
The culture may not be redeemable. The decadence could be a sign of the decline of society as forecast by 'The decline of the West' - Spengler, or 'The Study of History' - Toynbee.

Who says America has to be an English-speaking country to be America? German was the no. 2 language here for a while, but the German Americans embraced the same ideals as the English-speaking ones.
It's not the language people speak, but how they relate to our national ideals. Unfortunately, the materialistic culture that the Republicans in particular have been promoting tells people that America is just a place to earn money and buy stuff. (They're not so much into "democracy" as such.)
I think that's way more of a problem than people speaking other languages, which, I should remind you, has *always* been part of America.

HI well sorry to say this but your country was built on the back of slaves not equal rights then you destroyed the only true American culture the native Americans. But i do understand what you mean about the diverse communities of different nationalities and i have to say your not alone here in Britain this exists too and Ive been told it is sapping the life out of south Africa too and the way the world is today with war and genocide in African countries and poverty people are going to migrate to try to get a better life . We all have to live together there is no going back only forward.

Well i say have a good look at the movie (windtalkers)i think nicolas cage is in it.Another thing how many states in the USA have names that do do derive from the english language.in fact very few.also i may add when u say our language do u mean apache, sioux, blackfoot, french, german, spannish portugeese need i say more because all of those languages were in use in america at the time of its independance.I love the USA i was not born there nor live there.IT SHINES AS AN EXAMPLE AS TO HOW DIFFERENT CULTURES BLEND AND MIX AND SO ON.GO TO IRAN AND SEE HOW IT TREATS PEOPLE OF DIFFERENT CULTURES AND RELIGIOUS BELIEFS.ITS NOT A VERY POPULAR DESTINATION.SHOULD WE WHO ARE FREE WISH OTHERS TO BE FREE TOO.IN SOME SAD,SAD PLACES IN THIS WORLD THE AMERICAN FLAG MAY NOT FLY ALOFT BUT IT IS CERTAINLY CARRIED IN THE HEARTS AND MINDS OF THOSE THAT DO RESPECT DIFFERENT CULTURES AND SPEAK DIFFERENT LANGUAGES...IS THAT NOT SOMETHING TO STAND UP FOR AND BE PROUD OF

You don't sound like a racist to me. You've raised real issues which need to addressed. To my mind, any debate on the matter should depart from the Ethnic Pride - Melting Pot dichotomy. In other words, should new immigrants be allowed to impose their original identity on the local community or do they have to embrace and adopt the culture and lifestyle of the home country?

"I do support the fact that our country was founded on the idea that all people no matter their race/ethnicity have the right to make a better life here."
Did you just fall off the turnip truck?
This country was founded on genocide against the native americans, enslavement of africans, and repression of women.
The progress toward equality for all people is a goal liberals have been working towards since the birth of this nation. Even today we have a president who wants to amend the constitution to discriminate against gay people.
I cant believe there are people like you running around. Its too bad ignorance isnt painful.

I'm close to 70 years old. I must say in the 40's, America wasn't a symbol of world culture as it has become.
To the young man,
America has failed to deal with immigration, this country will fall from within as our culture is already falling.

So if those Muslims don't get their way, then they're going to start up bombing temples in our united states of america? Is that what you're saying? I opt to belive that the accepted public of Muslims at the instant are not skill terrorists yet fairly peace loving human beings like the rest human beings. they do in comparison to each this suicide bombing the two. Excuse me, yet you may say a similar ingredient approximately Christians. Ever heard of the KKK? Are we meant to bow to the needs of all Christians because of the fact of them?

Speaking or right or wrong. A thief broke into my house the other night, took my food and left me a few pennies, made me and my kids work for very low wages, and then gave me a "loan" which has kept me in debt for longer than I want to remember. So, I decided one day to go over to his house and see what he had done with "the product of my cheap labour, the profits from the interests I pay him every month, and the produce he gets for very low prices from my family" He was doing OK, nice house, fancy cars, beautiful garden. Then I noticed his kids were spoiled brats who were so lazy they wouldn't even clean their own house, wash their cars, or tend to their gardens. So I moved into the neighborhood, (left my family back home to keep up with loan payments) and offered to do the work his lazy kids won't do. He kind of pretended to worry that this might not be totally legal, but rubbed his hands when he realized I would do it for less than his own would. So he decided to ignore the "legal" thing for a while, and hired me. I work for him from dusk till dawn for very low wages. His hous looks nice again, his kids are taken care of, his garden looks nice, and there is fresh produce on his table which he can afford because my family farms very cheap for him back home. Every once in a while he gets this odd "american patriotic notion of standards, values and right/wrong mood" and comes out to his back yard and yells at me: Illegal alien! go back to where you came from! , learn english! and stuff like that. I just ignore him because in the end I know he and his father needs my work and resources more than they want to admit. As long as there is a demand...there will be a supply!!!
