The fact is he has been past it for years.
Aaron Lennon bought so much pace, and pushed back the other teams when he came on for Beckham.
What England need is speed, penetration, and attacking players on the wing.
For example Cole / Lennon / Wright-Phillips / Downing.....and definetly not Beckham, he slows down the attacks far to much as is a weak link.
He isn't a scapegoat for this World Cup, its Cristiano Ronaldo. And the truth is Beckham has been responsible for numerous errors in big games.
vs Argentina 1998...........red card.
vs Brazil 2002..................jumped a challenge instead of getting stuck in, which lead to a goal
vs Portugal 2004..................causing damage to the space station
Finally England will be a better side:
Robinson
Neville, Ferdinand, Terry, Cole
Lennon, Gerrard, Lampard/Carrick, Cole
Rooney
Owen

No. Its amazing how many people sing his praises when he saves Englands bacon, only to change their minds when he does not score a goal just once.People have such fickle minds! Same thing happened during the world cup. Commentators were saying, "David Beckham seem to be doing very little", then he scores, then the commentators are saying," David Beckham is brilliant, what a brilliant goal" Which is it to be? One minute he's a hero, next he's past it!!

What at 31 years old?! Are you having a laugh? I do think he is over-rated even though I admire him and what he's acheived but I do think he should have been kept in for one more world cup as he could give guidance to the younger players. Past it. lol. Now you're making me feel old even though I'm the same age as him, still love clubbing, fashion and the same things I loved ten years ago!

Wow that first answer sucks! he's not past it, they are just looking for a scape goat and he's it. He has years of top football left yet and then he can be a top manager or trainer. I think most will be upset he's outa the squad cos he is genuinly patriotic for England.

He's only good with one trick on the pitch. Off it, he may be more valuable to England as he could draw media attention and a bigger sponsor check...
