synonyms LIBERAL, GENEROUS, BOUNTIFUL, MUNIFICENT mean giving or given freely and unstintingly. LIBERAL suggests openhandedness in the giver and largeness in the thing or amount given . GENEROUS stresses warmhearted readiness to give more than size or importance of the gift . BOUNTIFUL suggests lavish, unremitting giving or providing . MUNIFICENT suggests a scale of giving appropriate to lords or princes .

A Liberal believes in government control of all social programs, e.g., food stamps, welfare, medical care, and so on.

Liberals also believe in income leveling: that is, those who make more money should have a larger percentage of their salaries removed by the government, to fund the above programs.

Liberals don't believe in personal responsibility; they believe in group mandates (instead of personal donation, taxes; instead of monitoring your own child's education, schools are held responsible; instead of protecting your own property by having a gun in the house, the removal of personal arms and reliance on police, etc.).

Liberals don't feel a strong military is necessary; they believe that to have a standing army of any strength is provocative, and not defensive.

Worst of all, Liberals feel they have a perfect right to tell you what to do (unneeded smoking bans; leaded gas regulation; and, this week, the foie grs ban in Chicago).

Liberals believe in the constituational mandates to "promote the general Welfare and secure the blessings of LIberty".

They believe in personal freedoms, not group conformity. They believe in freedom of expression, whether you like what people are saying or not. They believe in personal choice, not government enforcement of moral standards.
