Read the manual... I'm not good at computer gun games... but on a console, try getting a light gun (if the game supports it), and use that to simplify it. You could wait for the Wii to come out for flawless light gun-like control.

every one is different if the game doesn't come with a guide or directions you can find the directions on the site of the game
ie. if it was a nintendo game you could find directions on nintendo.com
