Space Trader for the (It's not a gaming system?!) Palm. It's freeware and open source so anyone can do anything to it but copyright it or patent it. It's lots of fun! Trading stuff is the gist of it, but once you get enough credits, you can do any of the following anytime, no "You must be a ___ to do this" stuff.
1. Complete quests like emergency deliveries and destroying powerful enemy ships
2. Become a bounty hunter and destroy pirate ships
3. Become a pirate yourself and attack everything!!!
4. Carry certain goods the in-game police rather you wouldn't
For an actual console game, the best game of all time is undoubtably SUPER MARIO BROS.!

you cant compare games that are in different sorts. metal gear solid is one of the best games in tactical espionage actions but you cannot compare it to a horror adventure like resident evil 4 or rpg game like final fantasy 10 . but in the actions i agree with you metal gear solid is one of the best . especially the metal gear solid 3 .for ps2 of course. in real time adventures shenmue 2 for dreamcast/x box . and in action adventures ninja gaiden xbox . you should try them if you didnt .

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. it was on the PS1. This is my all-time favorite game. It was a side-scroller but it had elements of action and RPG. Your character could level-up and eventually yo even acquired NPC's that would fight alongside you. I can't say enough about this game. IT ROCKS!!!!
