War is never the answer to a question but always seems to be..WW3 is coming, sooner than we would like to admit. The writing is on the wall and we are all witnesses to the pending peril. Here are the factors that are deciding this eminent conflict:
A. The UN is a multi national organization with a direct US agenda. The will be policing the region in the middle east over the next few months.
B. The UN will become allies ( in the eyes of the Islamic fundamentalist) and a war will begin between Iran, and other countries with Islamic ties.
C. Just like the civil war, the Arab countries will become split and it will be brother against brother as some countries will stay true the the UN.
D. All fundamentalist around the world will become active ad violent as they try to disrupt the peace progress. What we now know as terrorism will become all out "Jihad" around the world!!!
E. This will be called a policing action, but will been seen as WW3!!
I guess we just have to wait and see what happens!!!

As I am wholly unable to give a worthwhile political assessment, perhaps I could redirect the question down to a more "personal level".
In my own estimation, the question we should be asking ourselves is not " will there or won't there be a world war", but "what should I do and how should I live given that a world war is possible at all".
If we look at history it is nothing but alternative periods of peace and war, whatever part of the globe. In this world there is no lasting peace, no true security. Every empire decays and topples. But amidst this fluctuation and uncertainty we all as individuals have the power to choose the good and to do it right around us. While the world wars, we may have peace in our selves. While nations invade nations, our family can be united and happy. While leaders and rulers float in deceit and deception, we can be honest and forthright with our friends.
The only way I see that a war can be averted is if we first war with ourselves and our own evils. We fight for love and humility, civility and respect, truth and goodness. This way, even if the world is up in flames and our lives are taken form us by our "enemies", we will be the true victors.

It's already here...But because it involves "Unconventional" aka "Gorilla" warfare, it hasn't actually been deemed WW III... However, if you listen to the terms used, Bush and virtually every other governmental leader all say we are "at war with terrorists"...Just because "terrorist organizations" don't "directly represent" a given government, though some like Hezzballah have members in the government, it isn't concidered to be a real war...Though virtually every country has most of thier military forces committed, it isn't concidered to be a real war...Though military engagements are based in one geographical area, though there are outright attacks on many different countries home soil, it's not concidered or recognized for what it is...I'm not religious, but, I believe both the Bible AND Nostrodomis said WW III would be exactly as it is now, with the exception of a nucleur holicaust (So Far)...Do YOU think this constitutes WAR?

I don't think we're anywhere close to WWIII. Most of what's going on now is unconnected, there aren't major armed alliance groups going head-to-head like in WWI and WWII. The world is a rough place, but the wars now are all small little wars.

be a war between western Judeo/Christian civilization and
IslamoFaschist Religious Fanatics...
Are "we" civilized ?
Yes, some of us are...
We will not destroy mankind or the planet...

I REALLY liked the answer you gave to my question, even though it came from your HEART instead of purely from your MIND!
And I'll use your answer to my question to answer yours. Here's hoping that enough people listen to that still small voice inside their hearts (whether they recognize it as God or not) and say, ENOUGH OF THIS HATRED!!! so that this ol' world can keep turning for a few more generations, that a few of our children MIGHT just maybe know what it's like to grow up in a world, or at least a friendly square mile or two, of peace.
You told me you had trouble believing in a God. Don't go by "religious" feelings, or dismay over the actions of those who call themselves religious. Be one of the ones who refuses to hate. Continue to hope fo, and you will one day find, that there is a God who is calling people to love one another. We should NEVER give up encouraging people to find the Source of Love, and to trust in it, and we should NEVER give up trying to bring about peace in our world. Belief in an afterlife with a God of Love, wonderful no matter what happens to the Earth, should not and need not keep us from caring about our planet. At its best, it gives us hope that a Powerful Almighty Wise and Loving God is at work in spite of all the opposition He is getting.

I wish I had an answer for that. But violence, rage, and hatred escalating at the rate that it is, I would speculate that a major conflict could erupt at any time. I certainly don't see anything on the positive side that would prevent it.
