Then the population of countries like India would be VERY low, more so since we love to eat spicy food, especially during pregnancy! (Ditto for Mexican food, Thai food or Portugues food!)
So long as you have it in moderation and with plenty of water, so as not to give you indigestion or heartburn, it is perfectly ok.

I don't see how it can harm the baby as the baby does not receive the food directly - they receive nutrients from the food you eat through your bloodstream.
In fact some midwives recommend pregnant women to eat a hot curry in order to start labour off!
I don't think it would harm the baby at all. I know they say some foods you eat in pregnancy can cause allergies in babies but to be honest I think we'd have to cut out everything we eat to avoid that! Our mothers didn't adhere to such strict rules when having us (mine didn't and me and my brother are fine, no allergies at all).
I love hot spicy Indian food but I've had to give up eating it since I've been pregnant because it just gives me heartburn. I miss it so much! As soon as baby's here and my body's back to normal I'm having a beer and a curry!!!!

It's okay to eat spicy food while you're pregnant - I do all the time. The reason so many people tell you to stay away from it is because it might give you heartburn. But if you feel okay, by all means keep eating spicy foods. If you do get heartburn, you can always take Tums.

No, it won't hurt baby at all.
Think of countries like India or Mexico where they eat spicy foods all the time.
It could give you heartburn though, especially late in pregnancy. Make sure you have some TUMS around just in case!

No way. I craved hot sauce during my pregnancy hot peppers to mexican food and pepper-chinis from subways. Let me tell you the worst thing I got was heart-burn. My baby is perfectly normal (9 months). And he stole a hot/spicy pork rind from my great-grandmother and ate the whole thing he wouldnt loosen his grip So i think he like spicy food to. (i know pork skin are gross).

No, but it might give you indigestion/heartburn. Take it easy and go for milder flavours for your own comfort.
Think about the cultures where all that is eaten is hot n spicy food- their babies are all fine.

No. It'll probaly just make them more active inside you...meaning your baby might kick you a little bit more, until the food kindof wears off. If that makes any sense.

No,it will not hurt your baby unless it hurts you. Like if you get heartburn or something of the sorts it possibly could but thats in all pregnacys. So it is o.k. as long as you do not get hurt then the baby doesn't.

I ate spicy foods when I was pregnant with my son and he turned out just fine. I don't see what it would hurt. Your son is just getting the nutrients through the ambillical cord. I don't think he is getting the flavor. Indigestion for you? Possibilty.
