Many of the actions going on in the middle east are left over colonial/imperalist legacy from the British, the French and other Europeans powers of the 19/20th century. Dividing up areas without regards to history and culture. No need to wonder why they hate us. We used to enslave them and rape their natural resources. Made them 2nd class in their own land. It's like beating your child when it was a baby and now it's grown it's taking revenge. Too late to kill the baby. Make peace with it and leave it alone....Leave the middle east alone.Yesterday servant are tomorrows's masters. Who did they learn from?

I've been waiting for someone--the US, Israel, the UN--anyone to admit that partitioning off land and just making gifts of whole new countries in 1948 just wasn't a good idea.

When are they going to get out of denial and admit it?

Westerners have short memories when it comes to our own transgressions, don't we?
And someday, maybe we'll be paying for incinerating over
100,000 Japanese civilians when we didn't have to, at the end of WWII,

And American people will continure to dumbly ask: "Why don't THEY like us ?"

I agree. They were mistreated before, BUT now that we are trying to give them independence, they don't know how to use it!
