We have a 2300 square foot (1 story) home in Houston, TX. The home is 4 years old. We keep the A/C at 78F during the hot summer months, and have no other real intensive electrical demands. We have solar screens on the windows and weatherstripping on all the doors. But our usage still seems high...like 60 kWh a day (~1800 kWh a month) in July/August/September/October.

What are the numbers for others? Is our usage normal or atypical? Thanks in advance...

I searched for various utility price comparisons without any luck. Best advice is to visit your utility companies website and search for information. I can tell you, from experience, that most utility companies are not willing to offer "average" cost to heat or cool a given house. Some have tried to be helpful, but there are far too many variables, and they found themselves with disgruntled customers who invariably blamed the utility compnay when their bills were above average.

Good luck with your search.
