he probably used "OH GOD, HELP ME" not exactly meaning god god and that doesnt make him non atheist any longer. like many people, he probably just said it in a time of panic

Like most atheists, he was probably raised in a religious household(!) and his words harked back to that.
I'm not a believer, and I say "god" sometimes, or "jesus christ," but only when I'm swearing. :)
