It depends. You get some exercise from walking behind a power mower and most are pretty cheap. You get no exercise by riding on a mower.
Depending on your yard, you might need a walk behind mower and a riding mower if there are places a riding mower cannot go.
Riding mowers cost a lot more. Getting service and repairs is problematic. You can usually fit a walk behind in the trunk of a car and drive it to a repair shop. For a riding mower repair, you might have to call Sears.
If you have one acre or less, and no heart problems, you may not need a riding mower.

Well...it would depend on how exhausted you're getting from your regular power mower. Also...do you have a place to store the riding mower. But, if you're currently taking more than an 2 hours mowing the front and back, and have a place to store the riding mower - FOR SURE I'd look into getting one!

I have a half an acre and a rider and it takes me about 1.5 hours to ride it and trim and blow the concrete off. I would say that if you have 1/2 acre or more its time to ride.

I would say a half acre, something like 200 feet by 100 feet or larger.

If you are handicapped and cannot push a mower, then you need a riding mower. But I agree, you need a place to keep it.
