I want to put crown molding along the intersection of where the wall meets the ceiling to hide my uneven painting job (the walls and the ceiling are different colors). I have tried using tape to create an "straight line" but I can never get the tape in a straight line.

you still have to paint the molding, you could end up with the same results. I would try to tape it again. When you apply the tape to the wall unroll two to three feet of tape then stick just about a 1/4" to the top,if it doesn't look good all you need to do is pull the tape off and start over again. after you run one section then gently press the tape down.

Good luck

A 4" brush with wet tip and just cut in the wall to the ceiling, let the paint run just slightly onto the ceiling so you want see the white ceiling on a colored wall.

If the walls are not straight and square, you may not be able to use crown moldings. It might be hard to get them to fit flush. It seems that it would be easier to paint the room one color.

there are some really nice moldings you can use you can get many of these by the foot so try a few different ones till you find what you like and what you are trying to say in each room.... oh and paint or stain before you put them up....
