well, as a former flight attendant i am happy to give you the straight dope on business class. you get more leg room, you will almost never have to check your carry on bags, you have a hanger for your coat, you get a nice cold beverage prior to take off, you get a slightly more decent meal (though it's still airplane food so don't be disappointed) the flight attendants only have to deal with 30 or so people max depending on the aircraft so they have more time to do things like fill your wine glass and offer water and cookies hot towels and stuff like that. i would personally, only do business class though if there was a very good deal on the ticket, or if you are upgrading with miles or if your company is purchasing for you. or, if your trip is a long haul or international flight it can be very nice and well worth the money. business class is basically first class minus say...a pair of crappy socks or a better headset. also of great importance considering what is going on security wise, a business class ticket would ensure that you get a shorter check in line, early boarding and so forth. but don't expect to have your butt kissed for the money either or you could end up steaming mad. i've seen it happen sooooooo many times. doesn't matter where you go, or what airline, you are still apt to run into less then friendly customer service personnel, which sucks for everyone (especially their coworkers!) hope this was helpful!

Well, as you know it is about twice as much money to fly business class. Some of the benefits are:

1) You get nicely served meals (which is of no benefit to me as I am on a diet)
2) YOu can drink all you want(which is of no benefit to me as I do not drink)
3) More room to spread out in
4)Luggage is handled as PRIORITY(which is nice)
5) You can take a third suit case instead of the usual two
6)You are treated as a person and not a piece of garbage

I ONLY go business when I go overseas but NEVER within the U.S.

business class tickets subsidise everyone else. If it were not for this class of ticket flight prices would be even bigger than they are now. I have flown long haul in business class many times - not paid for by me I hasten to add - but if you have to work on arrival then it is worth the extra comfort. I once went from South Africa on Saturday to start work at 8:00am in Venezuela on the Monday; 8 hours difference in time zones and 3 flights. Would have been ineffectual at work if I didn't sleep well. Sleeping in Economy to the extent of being able to function on arrival can be hard

More leg & elbow room.

You get to feel slightly important.

i think that for short distances, no one need to consider that option at all. but if you like to travel in the "slave porthole" for many hours, you can consider.
