Two Different products with the same result

Microsoft Outlook Express is a POP client program. That means the data flows from the e-mail provide to your PC. You are reading the local files as they are stored on your home PC.

When you use a tool such as Gmail, Yahoomail etc the E_mail stays at the web browser and is not downloaded to your local PC.

Both work, one is easier to use, but does not give all the features of the other (Speed is one thing) - It's Faster to read the e-mail from your Local PC hard disk than it is to read the e-mail from your Web Browser.

Alternates to Outlook Express are:

Opera M2 E-mail (Integrated) with Web Browser :: Opera

-or-

Open Source E-mail Client

What do you mean by "alternative to set up outlook express"? If you are looking for an alternative to Outlook Express, Thunderbird (http://mozilla.com) is a good solution.

If you are looking for something web-based, GMail (invite only, at the moment), Live Mail (http://live.com), or Yahoo! Mail would work.

Go to Incredimail.com and try that. Works the same way as Outlook, but is easier to use.
