A writer, and I will be. Not to brag, but I have so far accomplished everything that I have wanted to be since I was a child. I was a ballerina, and a social worker, writer is next. With people like you, who keep asking really good questions that keep me coming back to writing....it won't be long. I have already sent my first project to be published. I am waiting for the word if it will be accepted. Good question. Thanks

Happy Boy!

That was my first and loudest answer as I read your question over, Patz. But then upon further inspection I realized you were evidently looking for a profession which met the criteria of your question. So my answer to that would be: Successful Writer!

Truthfully, writing is what I do best and a demonstrably (to me) successful career in the field would fit the bill quite nicely. And, as it happens, I'm on my way.... :)

Since I just came back from a silly night out with friends, in a city full of immigrants....

I'd get paid to imitate other peoples' accents or way of talking. Because to do it well requires understanding culture clashes, figuring out how different people work, experiencing different worlds, all of which is fascinating to me. And it's a helluva lot of fun at the same time!

Some people do have jobs doing this in comedy clubs. I think their "profession" is underrated both in terms of the skill required, and the benefits that it brings about by helping people to laugh at themselves and their differences with others. Unfortunately I don't have the skill of these people, but if I did that's what I'd love to do.

Time Traveler!

(okay no one said it actually had to be a viable profession, but don't choose me, because it will likely cause great protest)

Why at the fore-front of my mind? Read a cute cartoon - today's "Non-Sequitor" (wonderfully written cartoon) and it reminded me of all the wishful thinking I have done in my life.
Can I admit that I once longed to be a character in the Star Wars series, yet living in a much more Star Trekian universe?
Might I reveal that I also once hoped to see the medieval landscape of the ancient British Isles, perhaps to come through the veil of Avalon?
Or maybe something simpler and yet of more grace and spirit, return to an America of open prairie and ride o'er the grasses with my Native brothers and sisters...

Anyone likely to pay my way on such flights of fancy? Not bloody likely.
Still I would give over everything I own, and not worry about seeing one more red cent for the rest of my existence, just to be given the chance.
