jack bauer f... idiot here,s your answer
Section 505 allows the government to issue so-called National Security Letters, demanding all records from Internet Service Providers and other businesses -- all without judicial review. Prior to the enactment of the USA PATRIOT Act, these letters could be issued only against suspected terrorists. Now they can be issued against anyone. When the ACLU challenged this provision, the government immediately sought, and received, a gag order prohibiting the ACLU's legal team from saying anything to anyone -- including the staff and board of the ACLU -- about the case. After three weeks of negotiating with the government, a compromise was reached allowing a heavily-redacted version of the ACLU's complaint to be made public. Additionally, any time an ACLU staff member or board member wishes to speak to anyone about the case they must first read a memo issued by the ACLU's legal team that specifies what can be said about the case.

Let's make sure we realize something and put blame where blame belongs. Yes I agree the Bush administration has taken things to extreme and they all should be prosecuted. But reality is that will never happen. Anyone found guilty of a crime will simply be pardoned.
Another reality is the erosion of our constitutional rights has slowly been happening for at least the past 60 to 70 years. I do not know when it all started but it has been getting progressively worse.
Democrats are not the answer. It was a democrat controlled congress that voted and enacted the original provisions of the patriot act. Democrats are just as big of criminals as republicans and they sponsor just as much new legislation to further erode our rights as republicans. Both parties use scare tactics to get laws passed that do little to protect but make them look good, ensuring financial gain for the politicians and their cronies and their re-election.
Everyone has been affected by the Patriot Act and other similar laws weather you realize it or not. All our personal records of phone calls, banking transactions, purchases and internet activity including email are monitored by the Patriot Act. We won the cold war only to implement the policies and procedures endorsed by communism.
To Jack Bauer I have read the patriot act. From your answer you either have not read it or don't really comprehend it.
The right to stand up to the government is one right already taken away from us. If we "petition the government for redress of grievances" as guaranteed by the constitution we are labeled un-American. If we use force we are criminals and terrorists.
I foresee another civil war. I do not advocate or support it though. History tells us you can only oppress people so long before they rise up and revolt. I hope it does not happen. I hope society as a whole will remove the blinders and start thinking for themselves again. I hope they start electing people that really care about EVERYONE'S rights. I hope you all realize there are about 20% of our countries citizens, American born citizens suffering oppression over the laws passed by the democrats and republicans the past decade or so.

The White house would call them terrorists if they take back the country with violence. What people need to do is do it legally, by impeaching his ***. Violence is only going to give the Bushers a leg to stand on and expidite even more invasive laws and invasions of privacy. And Reallyconfuz makes some good points.
P.S. LOL on the hair comment in previous question :)

I would call them TRUE PATRIOTS : Defenders of our Constitution; the letter and spirit of our country. The proper way to rise up is by getting up and exercising your right to vote and your right to free speech; Anything beyond that may be criminal in itself.
The present administration might call them terrorist no matter what they do; legal or not. Under the Patriot act all they need is suspicion, to hold someone. This is a time for courage as well as restraint.

Hmm, you know what I would call them?
unpatriotic.
For anyone who would have the audacity to call them patriots, Read a damn dictionary.
A patriot is a person who defends their country. Not someone who gets their panties in a bunch when a president makes mistakes. Every president makes mistakes.
He's still better than Clinton.
And if the hippy protesters rose up and tried to take the country, I hope Bush sets the national gaurd on them. Hell, I'd join the gaurd for a chance to set all them straight as to who's the boss around here.

I call them idiots, morons, and yes terrorists. Why don't you read the Patriot Act, it's there for our own good. Have you had any rights or freedoms violated since it was passed? I know what your answer will be. No you have not. Just name one right that has been violated, by the Patriot Act. Just one.
