I don't know why men are smarter than women. I guess maybe men are deciding what the criteria for 'smart' are, then declaring themselves smarter?

If you actually did some research, you'd see that the data shows that men are not smarter than women, and women are not smarter than men. The sexes are equal in intelligence. Of course your question doesn't speak well for your gender......

Both genders have their specific strengths and weaknesses. Women are much better at multitasking than men are because they have more connections between the various parts of their brains. Similarly, men are better at focusing on one task at hand than women. Women are better when it comes to languages, whereas men are better generally at math and spatial tasks like navigating or building something in three dimensions.
Overall I think that men are more logical and appear to be more intelligent because of this because they don't go through monthly hormonal fluctuations which can make women very irrational.

Men are smarter than Women?...pffftttt.....
When it comes to thinking, women tend to be intuitive global thinkers....Women like to find out and question everything. For example, when a lady goes to a store to buy a purse, she will be asking about the quality of the purse, what material was used to make the purse and all these kind of questions. Asking all these kind of questions make women think more and more in details, allowing their knowledge to expand. While men, go to buy a pair of pants only asking for the size they want. More over, females tend to think twice before taking any actions; by thinking twice women are mentally exposed to both what is wrong and what is right. This gives other options of handling a situation or taking a certain action. Also, women have positive mentality and attitude, they also tend to understand and sort things out better than men do. What do positive mentality; attitude and better understanding have to do with solving problems? Unlike men, women tend to have better understanding than men, this allows them to use wiser and better ways to sort things out and solve problems other than just use violence as an answer.
In the hospital the relatives gathered in the waiting room, where their family member lay gravely ill. Finally, the doctor came in looking tired and somber. "I'm afraid I'm the bearer of bad news," he said as he surveyed the worried faces. "The only hope left for your loved one at this time is a brain transplant. It's an experimental procedure, very risky but it is the only hope. Insurance will cover the procedure, but you will have to pay for the brain yourselves." The family members sat silent as they absorbed the news. After a great length of time, someone asked, "Well, how much does a brain cost?" The doctor quickly responded, "$5,000 for a male brain, and $200 for a female brain." The moment turned awkward. Men in the room tried not to smile, avoiding eye
contact with the women, but some actually smirked. A man unable to control his curiosity, blurted out the question everyone wanted to ask, "Why is the male brain so much more?" The doctor smiled at the childish innocence and explained to the entire group, "It's just standard pricing procedure. We have to mark down the price of the female brains, because they've actually been used."

It's not the gender that shows intelligence. It depends on the persons interests and goals, and how they're brains have adapted.

What in the world gave you that misconception?
Women are as smart of men, they throughout history have just not been given many opportunities to prove it.
The "Somebody has got to take care of the kids" syndrome. Somebody does, and I am not against it. But it does not have to be the woman.
Those women I have met in business are every bit as smart as the men are. They think a little differently, but they are every bit as smart.
