where is the speedometer cable on a 99 mazda b2500 and what does it look like?

Don't look it does not have one! just a black speed sensor with a wire plug with two wires in the tail housing near the drive shaft

The speed sensor is on the rear differential housing mounted on the top. 1 bolt and an electrical plug is all you have to take off and reinstall. Part number is a ZZP0-43-711 should cost about $30.

just so you know the mazda b2500 is really a ford ranger - so it may be easier to get parts looking for ford ranger parts too.
