Go to a proper piercer, not a shop in the mall or hairdresser. You are more likely to be served by a properly trained piercer and thus avoid crooked piercings and infection.

Ideally you should have all piercings done with a needle, /not/ a gun, but ears are pretty low risk, so you can probably just go with whichever method you prefer.

The reason that needles are better is because they are tapered -- being so small, they damage less skin, and your piercing will heal quicker and more cleanly.

A gun will push the actual stud through, the base of which is far wider than a needle. Any infections that get introduced to your piercing will be exposed to more broken flesh (and capillaries), and will be more severe and take longer to heal.

I would go to Claire's. They do a quality job and aren't over priced. And don't worry - ear piercing is so much better than it was. It barely hurts at all - just pinch your ear for a split second as a simulation. To be honest, I felt dizzy about 10 minutes afterwards, but the reward definitely outweighs everything. You're dizzy for 10 minutes, but if you take care of your ears they'll be pierced forever. Good luck!

I just got my ears pierced for the first time. I got mine done at Claires at the mall. It feels like a pinch, but so totally doesn't hurt.

You might want to go to a store in the mall that sells jewelry to getr your ears pierced. They use a piercing gun which in less painful and faster. It also where on your ear you get a piercing-if you get in in the cartlidge area, it takes longer to heal and will be much more tender than if you get it pierced on the lobe. Wherever you decide to go, take care of your piercing afterward, you could get an infection if you don't keep it clean.

clairs isn't very good the people who peirce ur ears only been training for two weeks and they don't peirce ur ears correctly either. using a gun will make you have a lump in ur peircing hole cuz of some kind of dead skin cell i forget but if you want a lump in ur ear or have a chance of getting a infection go ahead

btw you should get rings as ur starter earrings
needles don't hurt at all they litterally feel like a reallllllllyyyyyy light pinch then thats it

A piercer who does it professionally. The guys who use piercing guns can never actually sterilize the whole gun, bumping up the chance of it getting infected. But it only feels like a hard pinch and after that it really doesn't hurt at all.

I would totally go to Claires which can be found in the mall nearest you. They have lots of cute earings to choose form even ones for sensetive ears. I'm pretty sure it's free there to!!! Oh and don't worry it doesn't hurt a bit it's just a little bitty pinch. Have fun!

Claire's is a great place. That is where I got mine done. Mine didn't hurt at all. But I think that it depends on the person and how sensitive your ears are...good luck!
