I live in youngstown, ohio and back in about the 1930s-50s there was an airport next to where my house now sits. No one knows the name of it. Its all gone trees and such cover the grounds but. I want to look it up because i think i may have a few oil wells on my property. I just cant figure out where to look at to find the name of that airport.

You want to find a good map library that has old "Local Aeronautical Maps", specifically the Cleveland LAM.

These maps identify air fields, including abandoned ones. The air field may still be represented in a map from the early 60's, if you can't find one old enough.

Also, consider talking to someone at the Youngstown Historical Center's Archive/Library:

Hope this helps get you started.

Are you talking about the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport that's the only one I found in your community so far. Here is a web site of another airport in your area http://www.airnav.com/airport/4G4 here is more information about the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Youngstown-Warren_Regional_Airport\
Hope I could have been of some help.

I suggest you go to your local public library. Ask to look at the directories- these have the telephone listings from way back. Check your address against what's in the directories. (also ask to look at the criss-cross directories). You may be able to find something.

If you have a local historical society, ask about your address and the airport. You may be able to find some leads there.

Good luck.
