maybe the rich got richer because they are not lazy and the poor get even poorer because they are. history repeats itself everyday.

I don't think the rich are being selfish because they are rich - most of the people you consider rich, give in all kinds of ways - charities, church, etc. you may want to step back and rethink your question.

if the poor are just getting more poor, why don't they do something about it. Quit having a bunch of kids so you qualify for more welfare - get those tubes tied and give out free vasectomies - get off your bu** and do something

It's not really selfishness. In fact, most really rich people that I know are not selfish at all! It's more the upper middle class that is selfish. Back to the question, people like to owe as much as possible because it proofs that they are capable of being clever and have something that everyone else wants. It proofs that they are capable of handling life! In other words, not being a loser!

The rich were once not rich. Face it and accept it, some of us are just better equipped than others. There is nothing wrong with the set up. The world needs fry cooks. Rich people owe poor people nothing.

In a capitalist society we live by the theory of Social Darwinism. That is "survival of the fittest." The main reason why rich people give money to the poor is to boost their own image and in turn make more money. Life sucks but if you work hard in life, you'll get what you deserve.

well look at it this way rich people are not rich unless they feel rich, if a poor person feels peaceful and happy with out any objects that keeps him happy such as drugs, tv, games, music, women, etc........... then its a true richness, If a rich man with many beautiful women, nice house, nice cars feels happy then he is not rich. Because the poor man does not depends on desires to make him self happy. He is happy because he knows he dont need anny thing. The guy with bags of money depends on objects and desires to make him happy. PS i m sorry if i offended anny one in anny way.

Because they close their minds to the world around them.however they cannot handle a personal crisis at all. whereas the poor are more prepared to and stick closer to family and friends .They help out more because they are less selfish than many rich people.

Well, Bill Gates is the richest guy in the world, and thru his foundation gives away a ton of money to help others.

And many people with less money than Gates but whom you might consider rich also donate lots to charity.

If they've earned their money, don't you think they have the right to enjoy some of it?

Maybe your assumptions aren't totally correct.

Everyone is given an even chance to make a decent life for themselves. Some choose to be selfish, and some are just lazy.

speaking as a disabled person, how and where do you figure there is selfishness? you want the rich to give to you, that is selfishness instead of earning it yourself. some were born rich, others made their money. sounds balanced to me
