The character of Atticus is not really designed to be a role model.
He is more of an icon that posesses qualites that are to be emulated. What he represents is a person who believes in justice and is willing to stand behind his beliefs and even endure the consequences during the search for the greater good.

No, not because of flaws in his fictional character, but because he is fictitious. He can be anyone, have any traits, depending on how the author would write a role model. A living human being that may be a role model brings hard work and experience into the equation. So, no I don't believe Atticus is a role model to all humans.

Yes ofcourse. In answer to a previous answer, I didn't realise that a pre requisite of being a role model was to tell jokes! I don't remember Jesus or Buddha telling many jokes. The nearest I can think of is Ghandi, when asked what he thought about Western Civilisation he said 'I think it's a good idea!'
Why shouldn't a fictional character be a role model? I can't think of many better ways of creating a role model, can you?
