I totally agree with you. I grew up with Mr. Rogers and was saddened by his death. I'm glad they still run his show though for kids of this generation to see and hope they continue doing so. Every generation should have the experience of growing up in his wonderful neighborhood! Today's kids shows just don't come close.

Mr. Rogers was a great man and a great role model. He truly was a gift to the children and the rest of the world.

As a musician I loved him because he exposed kids to all kinds of music. He was as likely to have classical as jazz as folk as rock on his show, and he made sure the kids understood that the people were actually playing, that this was a skill and not just something going on in the background. I loved the muppets, but when it came to music, it was always canned and for some reason had to be pop oriented.

Kids need to grow up knowing there's more to music than teenage airplay... that there's more to music than the person with the microphone. Mr. Rogers was great in this regard.

His passion was for kids. (In a good way, not in a dirty old man type of way.) He truly had a calling for building up and educating the children of the world. I wish there were more people like him. We live in such a cynical world that children aren't allowed to be innocent anymore.

I remember crying the day Mr. Rogers died, feeling like I'd lost a very special grandfather.

Well, I did grow up watching him, and I turned out all right, so yes, I think he was a great role model. I sort of remember when the (original) Gulf War was going on, and he came on TV to help explain it to the young children and help them be less scared. I was 8, so I don't think I watching really watching his show anymore, but it may have been a special primetime thing.

I liked the way he put on his shoes, he really did a good job of taking them off, and putting them back on again.
